Prehnite with Epidote

This is a really beautiful and treelike combination specimen of this now-modern-classic combination material from Mali. At the time, there were thousands of them (not all good, but still...). Good ones like this are pretty scarce now and it would have been good in its size range even at the time as an exceptional specimen with large epidotes under a large drapery of prehnite. Now, 10-12 years later, it is hard to find pieces that are exceptional - which this one is (see video)! Tabular, lustrous, dark pistachio green crystals of epidote, 7 cm in length, form the matrix for translucent, spherical aggregates of apple green prehnite, to 2.5 cm across. Rock Currier and friends brought nearly all of these out in a good run of years, and many people we know consider them the world's most beautiful prehnites for the unusual color and shapes.
