Item Description

An appealing piece of these soon-to-be-classic specimens which started coming out in the early 2000s. There are multiple localities in the Kayes Region in Mali which have produced a good number of what are certainly some of the most attractive, displayable and abundant specimens of Prehnite (often associated with Epidote) ever found. These pieces often feature fine green color spherical groups in pleasingly aesthetic specimens. This piece is a showy and three-dimensional small cabinet featuring a predominant "water green" color, translucent, spherical group of Prehnite sitting on dark greenish-brown, thick prismatic crystals of Epidote with very minor matrix. The Prehnite group measures 2.8 cm across. The piece is in good shape, no major damage, outside of the base where it was separated from the pocket wall. Overall it's a very presentable and good quality example of what will be some of the most well-known and iconic Prehnite specimens from any world locality.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl.
