Prehnite with Epidote

The Kayes Region in Mali is known among mineral collectors for producing some of the most iconic examples of Prehnite with Epidote ever found. These soon-to-be-classic and easily recognizable specimens started popping up on the market in the early 2000s, but not much has been seen in recent years. The distinctive appearance and high quality of the material makes them rather desirable among collectors. This piece is a showy and three-dimensional small cabinet filled with attractive "water green" color, translucent, spherical groups of Prehnite which are sitting on dark greenish-brown, thick prismatic crystals of Epidote matrix The largest Prehnite group measures 1.6 cm across and the largest Epidote measures 3.1 cm long. The vast majority of the Prehnites are undamaged, though some are contacted areas where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. Overall it's a very presentable and good quality example of what will be some of the most well-known and iconic Prehnite specimens from any world locality. Valued at $1,200.
