Item Description

These instantly recognizable and soon-to-be-classic specimens first made their way to the market in the early 2000s. There are multiple localities in the Kayes Region of Mali which have produced some of the most attractive, displayable and abundant specimens of Prehnite often associated with Epidote ever found. These pieces often feature fine green color spherical groups in pleasingly aesthetic groups. This particular piece is a showy and three-dimensional cabinet sized specimen filled with attractive "water green" color, translucent, spherical groups of Prehnite which are sitting on dark greenish-brown, thick prismatic crystals of Epidote. The largest Prehnite group measures 2.2 cm across. The piece is in great shape, as the front/display side is undamaged, and there is only one contacted Prehnite sphere on the back, where it grew against the pocket wall. Overall it's a very presentable and great quality example of what will be some of the most well-known and iconic Prehnite specimens from any world locality. From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl.
