Item Description

Going back to the early 2000s, the Kayes Region in Mali was the source of some of the most attractive, displayable and abundant specimens of Prehnite (often associated with Epidote) that had been found. These pieces often feature fine green color spherical groups in pleasingly aesthetic specimens. This piece is a showy and three-dimensional small cabinet filled with attractive "water green" color, translucent, spherical groups of Prehnite which are sitting on dark greenish-brown, thick prismatic crystals of Epidote on the back. The Prehnite group at the top of the specimen measures 2.1 cm across. The vast majority of the Prehnites are undamaged, though the bottom right section of the piece is contacted where it was separated from the rest of the pocket. Overall it's a very presentable and good quality example of what will be some of the most well-known and iconic Prehnite specimens from any world locality. Valued at $1,000. From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl.
