Item Description

The Prehnites from the Oficarsa Quarry in Spain are underrated for their quality, and rarely seen on the market, but they are quite attractive for what they are. This miniature specimen hosts semi-radial and "rosette"-like groups of gemmy to translucent "water"-green color Prehnite which are composed of small, "fan"-like blades. A handful of "needle"-like dark green prisms of Diopside are scattered here and there for a nice touch. The largest Prehnite aggregate measures 2.4 cm across. The piece is in good shape all around, with the only real damage around the periphery of the base where it was removed from the pocket. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
