Prehnite with Apophyllite (ex Richard Rossi Collection)

When it comes to Prehnites from the East Coast of the United States, the Prehnites from the O&G Quarry in Southbury, Connecticut are some of the best quality examples. You can make very even comparison between these specimens and the top specimens from the New Jersey trap rock localities in terms of color, quality, luster and size. This specimen features several translucent, semi-lustrous radiating spherical aggregates of lovely soft green colored Prehnite measuring up to 1.2 cm across associated with white/colorless blocky Apophyllite crystals on basalt matrix. The piece is very three-dimensional as you can see, and it's in decent condition, and the major damage is really around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall.
