Prehnite (rare style)

A special example of prehnite of a very rare crystallized habit, from the famous prehnite collection of legendary dealer Charlie Key - who was always proud to say he was the world's most crazy prehnite collector in a world full of too many tourmalines! Most prehnite is botryoidal or a replacement of earlier formed crystals, and it is also usually green. This specimen features lustrous and translucent crystals to 3.1 cm in length that exhibit a light salmon color. They have a very robust, pyramidal, elongated crystal habit that is to my knowledge only known from the rare pocket or two at this locality. Even then, most such crystals have no color. This piece, with its huge crystals of color, stands out as a significant example of this species. For what it is, this is truly exceptional. It is a display-quality miniature that, I think, would fool most people most of the time - it is hard to guess what this is, just from sight! Valued $1000 plus for size, style, color, and rarity...significant for what it is!
