Prehnite (rare Scottish locality)

This is a nice big showy cabinet sized display specimen of Prehnite from an undisclosed locality in Renfrewshire, Scotland (possibly the Boyleston Quarry) featuring a rich coverage of attractive, translucent, bright yellow-green, velvety botryoidal aggregates of Prehnite with very minor matrix. The piece is almost solid Prehnite, and you can see there are attractive spheres on both sides of the piece. Yes, there is some damage, so the piece is not pristine, but it's still a very eye-catching bigger-than-average example with beautiful color. Most of the other Scottish Prehnites we've seen have a bit more of a muted color, but this one is about as bright and alluring as we've had to offer from Scotland. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
