Item Description

This Trap Rock locality is one of the most impressive (and under appreciated) Zeolite localities in the world. This quarry has produced some amazing specimens in the last 100 years, including some impressive Prehnite specimens. This particular specimen is an attractive specimen consisting of beautiful, gemmy, blue green color, spheres of Prehnite sitting atop a layer of very dark Pumpellyite on a thin layer of basalt. A great cabinet from this historic locality. This is what is commonly called "blue Prehnite" from New Jersey, although the color is typically more on the green side. It would make a great addition to any Prehnite suite or a collection of minerals from New Jersey. It must be noted that Prospect Park will never produce any more specimens. The quarry is currently being backfilled to make room for housing developments, and will soon be nothing more than a memory.
