Item Description

A fantastic, sculptural large 'A' shaped jackstraw cluster of glassy, translucent, mint-green prehnite crystals casting (epimorphs) dissolved away elongated laumontite crystals from the famous extinct Malad Quarry near Mumbai. You can easily see the dramatic partially hollow prehnite casts on this striking and pristine 360-degree specimen. The casts are richly peppered with with tiny, gemmy, colorless tetragonal cubic apophyllite crystals, to 6 mm, a fine complement and typical accessory. These particular pseudomorphs have a special appeal all-their-own and this is a terrific large and artistic combination highlighted by the large number of apophyllite crystals. The quarry closed due to population growth and specimens of this outstanding quality were collected in the late 1970s and 1980s. Ex Robert Nowakowski Collection No. 341.
