Item Description
An exceptional example of this classic pseudomorph from a famous New Jersey locale. Prehnite from the Trap Rocks of New Jersey is both famous and beautiful. The waxy luster, translucent, sea-green color is lovely; but when you add the fact that it has pseudomorphed anhydrite, and retained such good sharp form, this becomes major. The large crystal measures all of 3.6 cm in length. The undulating plate is complete-all-around and has only trivial periphery wear. Some of the prehnite pseudos are actually epimorphs, i.e. casts after anhydrite crystals, which have been dissolved away and are partially hollow. Classic, older material from this noted locale. Ex. Steve Smale Collection. valued $750 by him in trade to me, this is a fine example for size and quality!
