Although there were literally tonnes of Mali prehnite on the market for a while, Rock is the person to blame for that and also the person trusted to have high-graded the heck out of it as it passed through his business and entered the market. He WAS the source. This is one of the best of the pristine, aesthetic large prehnite specimens he kept for his own collection. And he loved this stuff - I remember seeing his setbacks over the years and always being impressed with the aesthetics, perfection, and beauty of the one in 1000 pieces he kept from handling this material (he had a number of flats put away). By any standard, this is one of the better specimens in the size range, period. It is complete all around, displays 360 degrees, as shown here (front and back), and has only a few peripheral contacts to the sides. The whole central core is pristine. In person it is a translucent apple green color, especially beautiful with just a little backlighting. Complete all around, this is nearly a floater. All the major crystals are intact, and it has a really 3-dimensional presence in person that is hard to convey. Rock Currier was the prime exporter of tons of amazing and interesting new Mali material starting in the mid-ought 2000's. Being Rock, he kept some of the best for himself, as the tonnage flowed through to his wholesale business. Valued $5000. Photo by Jingnan Zhang.
