Prehnite on Epidote

Item Description

A classic association specimen from the impressive finds in the early 2000s in Mali, when some significant pieces of Prehnite were coming out. This small cabinet sized piece features several spherical, lovely green color Prehnite "balls" sitting atop crystallized dark brown-green Epidote on a thin layer of matrix. If you look closely with a loupe, you'll see that the Prehnites actually have hundreds of tiny crystallized faces on the surface, so they're not just amorphous spheres. Most of the Prehnites are in excellent shape, with no major damage but there is some contacted edges, where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. The Prehnites are gemmy/translucent, and they light up with that glowing green color when backlit. From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl.
