Prehnite (good quality)

Item Description

The attractive Prehnite specimens from the well-known O&G Quarry in Southbury, Connecticut are certainly in the upper tiers of the best quality examples from any East Coast locality. These impressive pieces stand up well against the top specimens from the New Jersey trap rock localities in terms of color, quality, luster and size. This specimen features fine, gemmy, "water green" color semi-botryoidal groups of Prehnite (composed of layered bladed crystals) measuring up to 1.3 cm associated with Apophyllite on a layer of basalt matrix. The is in good condition with no major damage to most of the Prehnites, but it's rough around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket. A lovely specimen of this attractive and now fairly hard to find material. From the worldwide collection of Gerry Morvell with a label from Larry & Joan Bull.
