Prehnite (good crystallization) (ex Rich Kosnar Collection)

Here we have an wonderfully well-crystallized Prehnite specimen from the famous Prospect Park Quarry in New Jersey. It hosts botryoidal aggregates with great translucency/gemminess sitting on basalt matrix. As you can see in the closeup and micro photos, the Prehnite spheres comprise dozens of distinct, compressed "clamshell"-shaped crystals. In my experience, rarely does one see such defined crystals of Prehnite from New Jersey like this. These specimens are highly prized by New Jersey collectors, and will be virtually impossible to obtain as the beloved Prospect Park Quarry will soon be completely filled in for a housing development, never to produce these wonderful specimens again.
