Prehnite is one of those species that is found is many different environments in a wide array of colors and forms from around the world. The pieces from Tanzania are certainly some of the most distinctive and desirable examples in terms of contemporary specimens. The combination of rich vibrant color along with wonderfully gemmy lustrous crystallization puts them in the upper ranks for quality of any Prehnite specimens. Yes, these Prehnites are found in the same mines that produce the world famous gem Tanzanite crystals. This piece features beautiful, lustrous, gemmy, greenish yellow somewhat "clamshell"-shaped crystals forming spherical crystals aggregates sitting on host rock matrix. The Prehnites are virtually undamaged, they really only have a bit of embedded / intergrown host rock. This discovery dating back a few years truly made an impression on me because they are some of the finest quality crystallized Prehnites that I have encountered.
