Item Description
A hard to find specimen of Prehnite from Niederkirchen featuring notably crystallized (!) translucent, soft greenish-grey colored crystals of free of matrix. What makes this piece special is the fact that it's truly crystallized, and didn't form in radial / botryoidal aggregates like is often seen from this area. You can clearly see individual orthorhombic and semi-"clamshell"-shaped crystals of Prehnite - the largest of which measures to about 5 mm all over the display side of the specimen. I've only had a few of these to offer over the years, and if you collect trap rock minerals or minerals Germany / Europe, this is a good one to add to your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4599). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
