Prehnite (Currier Coll.)

Item Description

Rock Currier was one of the first mineral dealers to succeed in getting good minerals mined and exported from Mali, and he prided himself on keeping many of the very best for a large suite within his huge personal collection. His locality suites, from regions like this where he controlled export, were often unprecedented in scope and breadth. This is a particularly fine large, display-sized specimen with elegant growths of prehnite. It is in pristine condition on the display face, with only some contact at the sides where it came out. In person, it is one of the more 3-dimensional pieces. Acquired in 2006, as Rock was bringing these to market (one of his made the cover of the Min Record at the time), this was one of the very few larger cabinet pieces he kept back from sale. This specimen is donated in honor of Rock's memory by The Arkenstone.
