The famous old Prospect Park Quarry is one of the most important and historic trap rock localities on the East Coast of the United States. It is probably best known for its superb crystallized Prehnite specimens, which you will find in collections around the world. This wonderful small cabinet display specimen a several excellent quality, vitreous / velvety, crystallized "balls" of gemmy beautiful green color Prehnite on matrix. If you look closely, you can see the Prehnites are composed of intergrown "clamshell"-shaped crystals of Prehnite, but appear to be spherical at a distance. The largest "ball" measures 1.1 cm across. No damage and very showy. Prospect Park is now completely finished, so no more of these impressive pieces will ever be found.
