Item Description

The O & G Quarry in Woodbury, Connecticut is a well-known trap rock quarry that has produced some attractive zeolites and associated minerals. The Prehnites from this locality are well-known to collectors for their range of beautiful colors and desirable botryoidal forms. This miniature display specimen features a coverage of beautiful, very gemmy, soft silvery-green colored "balls" of Prehnite measuring up to 8 mm across sitting on basalt matrix. The majority of the Prehnites are undamaged and they have an almost "velvety" quality to them in terms of their surface luster and internal gemminess. A beautiful and now fairly hard to find example of this classic material. Ex Charlie Key collection. Charlie is arguably the most successful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
