Item Description

Any collector of New Jersey trap rock minerals is quite familiar with the famous "Pumping Station" Prehnites, which have a distinctive shape and color that doesn't quite resemble any other major trap rock locality in the state. This piece features several "water green" colored "fingers" of Prehnite measuring up to 2.6 cm, which are actually hollow casts after Anhydrite (you can see a few of them are contacted on the back and show their hollow interiors) which are associated with a grey blocky rhomb of Calcite on the right edge. The label states that the micro white crystals on the piece are Phillipsite, but I can't confirm this. There are only five mineral species reported from this locality, so it stands to reason that these crystals must be Phillipsite. A really cool older specimen (from the mid 1980s) of this unique and fine quality material. From the collection of Gerry Morvell with a label from Quarry Enterprises of Northvale, New Jersey.
