Item Description

Lane's Quarry is certainly the most famous locality for Babingtonite on the East Coast of the United States, and probably the entire country. It's also well-known for producing some fine quality crystallized Prehnite specimens. This small cabinet features translucent, pleasing yellow-green color aggregates of Prehnite which have formed a "cast" after preexisting prismatic Anhydrite crystals, which dissolved away leaving a hollow cavity inside. The "cast" measures 3.7 cm long, and is associated with additional "bubbly" Prehnite on basalt matrix. There is a slight bruise on the upper right side of the "cast", but overall the piece is in good shape. It's an aesthetic piece and shows good color when backlit.
