Prehnite Carving, Sea Turtles

Prehnite has always been a popular gem among collectors because of its lovely green color. Recently the new Prehnite discovery in Mali has produced some great cabbing and carving material. This material, when carved, has a very unique and attractive "soft" almost "velvety" appearance. This particular piece features well carved mother and baby sea turtles with good detail surrounded by ocean waves. Considering the color, it's the perfect choice to have sea turtles carved from this unique material. The dark spots on the piece are prismatic Epidote crystals. Valued at $475 retail.
