Item Description
Prehnite is a well-known collector's species, found in many world localities in fine display specimens. Going back to the early 2000s, various localities in the Kayes Region of Mali started producing some of the most attractive, displayable and abundant specimens of Prehnite (often associated with Epidote) that had been found. These pieces often feature fine green color spherical groups in pleasingly aesthetic specimens. This piece is a showy and three-dimensional small cabinet featuring attractive "water green" color, translucent, spherical groups of Prehnite, along with stark white blades of Stilbite, sitting on dark greenish-brown, thick prismatic crystals of Epidote. The large Prehnite group measures 1.2 cm across. The vast majority of the Prehnites are undamaged, though the bottom section of the piece is contacted where it was separated from the rest of the pocket. Overall it's a very presentable and good quality example of what will be some of the most well-known and iconic Prehnite specimens from any world locality.
From the worldwide mineral collection of geologist, Demetrius Pohl.
