Prehnite

Prehnite has always been a popular gem among collectors because of its lovely green color. Recently the new Prehnite discovery in Mali has produced some great cabbing and carving material. This material, when carved, has a unique and attractive "soft" almost "velvety" appearance. This "Oval Cabochon" cut gem is good size for the material, and has a few VERY minor inclusions, but is still very gemmy, which is better than most I have seen when it comes to these stones from Mali. This material has such a unique look, that when you find a clean stone, it's a real treat. Considering this material is relatively new, it's a great gem to fill a spot in your collection.
