Item Description

Prehnite is a well-known silicate, found in many environments around the world. In the early 2000s, these beautiful and impressive display quality specimens of Prehnite with Epidote started coming out of an unlikely locality, the Kayes Region of Mali. They are well-known by this point to all collectors, and they are still some of my favorite Prehnite specimens from anywhere. This big attractive cabinet specimen hosts good quality, gemmy, water-green color spherical aggregates of Prehnite free of matrix, to form an eye-catching, aesthetic display piece. The piece is nearly a complete "floater", but there's a point of contact/attachment on one end where it was removed from the pocket wall. The largest Prehnite "ball" measures 1.8 cm across. No major damage I can find, and it's a very showy and dramatic example of these soon-to-be classics.
Valued $2,000.
