Over the last few years, we've seen some world-classic Opals coming out of Ethiopia. These gems rival some of the top Opal gems from places like Australia and Mexico for color and gemminess This "oval cabochon" cut gem is a fantastic example of this material featuring a golden background that hosts an amazing array of color flash ranging from green to gold to orange to red when reflected in the light. I can see a tiny bit of a blue-purple hue in certain lighting, but it's not terribly evident. This is s a big impressive stone, and would make a great piece of jewelry, or would stand on its own as a beautiful gem for your collection.
