Item Description

Opal is one of the few minerals that is found in multi-color examples, and is well-known for it's brilliant flashes that appear when specimens are rotated in the light. Going back to the early 2000s, we started seeing some superb Opals trickling out of the Tsehay Mewcha area (comprising countless small mines) in Ethiopia. This discovery eventually produced some amazing pieces of multi-color Precious Opal (and other varieties), which are certainly among the top examples ever found, as they are some of the most brilliantly colorful and eye-catching pieces from any locality in decades. This piece is a lovely solid specimen of soft golden colored translucent Precious Opal featuring multi-color flashes of green, gold, yellow, orange and red when rotated in the light. Even in low light, the color flash is fairly strong and beautiful, and when you view the piece under strong lighting, the color really comes out. Specimen weight is 1.81 grams.
