Powellite on Scolecite (important find circa 2000!)

Powellite from India is widely considered the best of species and here we have a dramatic crystal nestled/perched aesthetically in elongated and dramatic nests of scolecite crystals! This is a significant specimen in the size range, for both the powellite itself and for the combination style. The crystal is a light honey-colored, doubly terminated, translucent, satiny powellite crystal that measures a whopping 3 cm on edge or just over 4 cm across the long way. The scolecite crystals get up to 6 cm in length and are colorless and lustrous. The few unterminated scolecite crystals do not affect the overall quality of the specimen. It is amazing to see such a perch for the powellite, and it really enhances the overall aesthetics of the powellite crystal to be in such a "nest" - this was a famous find of around 2000-2001 as I recall, and we seldom see one come up for sale of ANY quality, let alone in good size and shape. It is a fantastic display specimen, for any sophisticated collector. Valued $5000-plus.
