Item Description

The Powellite crystals from the Chuquicamata Mine are some of my favorite examples of the species ever found. They're never large (they're typically always micros), but they are beautiful to view under magnification. Several sharp, GEM quality, beautiful yellow colored crystals of Scheelite are associated with electric emerald green Atacamite on Goethite matrix. The label accompanying the piece states that the green mineral is Malachite, but I'm certain that it is Atacamite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9950). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
