Item Description
Classic, excellent and pristine powellite miniature from the Nashik District. The very sculptural and aesthetic cluster of straw-yellow, translucent, compound tetragonal crystals is dominated by the large dipyramid with the striking, sharp chisel termination and beautifully complemented by the smaller crystals with both chisel and spike terminations on one side. Striations really enhance the glassy to resinous luster crystal faces. Yellow SW UV fluorescence. Every turn presents a distinctively different aspect of form and luster to this outstanding miniature. Powellite is the rarest and most desirable mineral from the famed basalts of the Deccan Traps of India. Large and sharp crystals like this are uncommon, and usually valued at $1500-2500.
