Item Description
A sharply terminated, gemmy and lustrous, polychrome tourmaline from the famous pegmatites at Virgem da Lapa, Brazil. This CLASSIC, OLD-TIMER, is from the early mining in the 1970s. The base is a very dark purple, grading upward to a very gemmy, light lavender. The termination is a pleasing light green. SELDOM is material of this old-time quality available. Lavender and purple are uncommon and highly desirable tourmaline colors from this renowned area. The 3 UNRETOUCHED backlit phtotos highlight the gemmyness and color saturations of this beautiful crystal. Essentially pristine. The contacting on one edge has no damage, per se and the other trivial contacts also have no damage. 24 grams. Ex Jamie Bird Collection and comes with a 1970s era dealer label with a $40 price! NOT cheap in those days, even when this was contemporary! A good chance to gain a rare tourmaline, of unique color pattern, from this classic locale. Valued today at $500-750 as they rarely come to market
