Item Description
When it comes to the famed Paprok locality in Afghanistan, most people will think of the superb Tourmalines that have been found over the last few decades. On the flip side, I think most people don't immediately conjure images of zeolites when it comes to gem-bearing pegmatite localities, but Paprok has produced what are some of the finest examples of Pollucite ever found. Pollucite is a very rare cesium bearing zeolite mineral species, and the best crystals are often found in pegmatite unlike igneous deposits where most zeolites species. This piece features a pair of good sized, lustrous, translucent, silvery-grey colored crystals of Pollucite measuring up to 3.8 cm across, with well-defined dodecahedral faces, sitting aesthetically atop Feldspar matrix. No damage that I can find, and the Pollucites are even crystallized on the back! This material is prized for its rarity and quality, and you don't often see such a showy and dramatic display quality example like this on the market. Priced at $3,500 for size, quality and rarity on the market. Good Pollucites haven't been coming out of Afghanistan in nearly the frequency as opposed to the early 2000s.
