Item Description
This is a single large and lustrous crystal of the rare cesium species Pollucite, from significant finds of around 2000, from the famous Afghanistan gem pegmatite areas. At the time, such crystals were said to come from Chamachu in Pakistan, and sold in the Peshawar market as Pakistan. However, they are from Afghanistan and were carried over the border for sale. This is large, sharp, and has a sparkly cavity showing unusual ingrown etching patterns on one face, that is interesting. 356 grams - nearly a pound! According to wikipedia: Pollucite is a zeolite mineral with the formula (Cs,Na) 2Al 2Si 4O 12·2H 2O with iron, calcium, rubidium and potassium as common substituting elements. But what that does not say is that it actually has enough cesium to be commercially an ore of cesium, and has some value for that fact.
