Polished Tourmalines (4 pieces) (ex Bill Larson Collection)

Item Description

A 4 piece set of polished pieces of Tourmaline from Momeik featuring a high-domed cabochon of the classic pink and black "mushroom" Tourmaline (the species is likely Olenite) along with another example of the same material with a much lower dome and the same pink and black coloring. Additionally, there is a polished cross section / slice that features a vivid blue trigonal "core" surrounded by a notably colorless ("Achroite") exterior "rind". The last piece in this set is a well-formed, pink crystal which has been polished on its base. The total weight of all 4 pieces is 25.3 grams. A really cool mixed batch of the various style and colors of Tourmalines found at this locality. From the collection of Bill ("Burma Bill") Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens and stones from Myanmar (Burma).
