Item Description

A beautiful polished slice through what was a fairly nice stalactite of rhodochrosite, from Argentina. The only place we see these from, for whatever geological reasons! You can see the striking concentric deposition layers and the core at the center, which are remarkably different from front (polished, single core) to back (unpolished, double core). The double vugs in the back core are unusual and noteworthy. It has wonderful hues from light salmon pink all the way to a very rich deep, almost red hue. The slice is complete all the way around. This is a truly impressive mineral specimen! This was cut from a pocket of stalactites of large size found in 1988-1989
