Polished Rhodochrosite stalactite slice

A beautiful, lustrous polished slice through what was a fairly large stalactite of rhodochrosite, from Argentina. This is only place we see these from, for whatever geological reasons! It has wonderful banded hues from light salmon pink all the way to a rich rose-red hue and you can see the offset core in the center. The slice is complete all the way around and the backlit photo highlights the beautiful colors and translucence. The back is unpolished. This is a truly impressive mineral specimen! This was cut from a pocket of stalactites of large size found in 1988-1989
