Item Description

Fabulous "eyes", dense banding and beautiful multi-hued green color highlight this striking, amazingly sculptural old-time polished slab from the historic copper and iron mines of this area of the Urals. The deposits in this area had the most important copper mines of Imperial Russia and were the source of large quantities of malachite for use as ornamental stone (MINDAT). Formerly in the Christian Rewitzer, Andeas Gabrys and Manfred Forg collections. Ex Wouter van Tichelen Collection and comes with a 2.9 x 21.0 sheet of a photo of the piece. 178 grams mass. Classic, old-time and beautifully artistic malachite from Russia's golden Tsarist era of mining here, almost certainly from the 1800s. This is veryhigh quality, such that you simply do not see anymore.
