Item Description

Stunning numerous variably shaped and hued malachite "eyes" dramatically cover this striking large elongated polished banded malachite nodule from the famous Lavender Pit at Bisbee. The form and patterns are surreal and the fact that the nodule is partially hollow adds even more character. The Pit opened in 1950 and operations ended in 1974. The specimen was undoubtedly obtained during the active mining period. Quality specimens from the Lavender Pit are seldom available. Exceptional polished malachite nodules, such as this, are indeed RARE and highly desirable Bisbee material. Mass is 269 grams. Valued at $1000-plus, minimum, for rarity and quality. You DO NOT see such things around the market often! Note the existin glabel is from Arizona specialist dealer Les Presmyk, and was obtained in a purchase of his old show inventory.
