Item Description

Kimberlite is a volcanic igneous rock best known for sometimes containing diamonds. It is often altered and brecciated, as this striking large polished slab is. Kimberlitic magmas form about 150 km or 90 miles below the Earth's surface and most are from 70 million to over 1.2 billion years old.
