Item Description
Poldervaartite was discovered in the 1980s but only recognized and named by 1993. The aesthetics of this piece are outstanding, with great architecture and quality crystals. The individual crystals have excellent luster, very good translucence with actual gemminess along the outer edges, and a nice tan color. They reach up t0 about 7 mm, with 6 mm being the average. These specimens have always been rare and hard to obtain. Literally, these were like beige gold to the collectors of Kalahari rarities! The new finds from here of a related species, Olmiite, do NOT make these older and very rare examples irrelevant. Specimens such as this have easily sold for $1000-2000 in recent years when they turn up.
