Item Description

An impressive and sculuptural large elongated two-sided cluster of intergrown classic "pokerchip" calcite crystals from the La Bufa Mine at the famous mines in Charcas. The waxy lustre, translucent hexagonal rhombohedrons have interesting "sandwich style" crystal growth. The centers of the crystals are gemmy/translucent colorless, with the outer faces being white. The dominating large crystal is 6.0 cm and all of the major crystals are pristine, except for one small contact on the large crystal. Ex Cook Collection. We feel very lucky to have picked up the large collection of Bill and Anne Cook of Cleveland, recently. It is a tribute to their long efforts, how many interesting minerals and old localities were preserved and carefully labelled so you can see them now. Bill and Anne collected for at least 60 years. Charcas pokerchip calcites are a classic Mexico species and this is an aesthetic large example. Pink fluorescence.
