Item Description

Dramatically sculptural stacked variably-sized, classic, hexagonal, lustrous, translucent, "pokerchip" calcite rhombs form a fantastic 360-degree old-time small cabinet from Charcas, renowned for such calcite crystal forms. The striking angled desert hoodoo, pagoda or superstructure of the smaller stacked disks atop the larger pokerchips adds an amazing architectural perspective to the piece. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2434 and acquired from Brad van Scriver in the Spring of 1962. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Outstanding quality and form for the Calcite or Mexican collector. Pink fluorescence.
