Item Description

Striking opposing clusters of intergrown classic "pokerchip" hexagonal calcite crystals from this classic locality - these are one of the most famous of old Mexican finds! Here, they form an impressive large and sculptural specimen from the famous polymetallic mines at Charcas. Portions of the waxy luster translucent rhombohedrons are gemmy/translucent with some color, and other others are milky white, adding much character. The two largest crystals are 8.0 cm and 6.7 cm across. Essentially pristine, for all of the many crystals, with only a trivial bit of bruising. Pink fluorescence. Classic large Charcas calcite with multiple display views, this is a true old classic calcite from a hard to obtain discovery, by today's standards. They only turn up in old collections.
