Item Description

Typically, Muscovite is not a collector species, and most people don't think of Colorado as a likely producer of attractive Muscovite specimens. This piece is the only specimen of this material that I have seen, though I'm sure other pieces exist. This piece was collected by Dean Allum in 2013, and shows beautiful "plumose" feathery form that is rather uncharacteristic for mica in general. The appearance of the "feather"-like growths is difficult to reproduce in the photos, but is certainly eye-catching in person. If you collect Colorado minerals, or even mica species, don't miss out on this oddball, hard to find display piece.
