Item Description

These impressive world-class specimens are some of the most distinctive minerals from any Chinese locality. Now I will point out that they're not entirely unique, since Plumbogummite replacing Pyromorphite has been reported from other world localities, but the pieces from Yangshuo are certainly the largest and finest quality examples extant. This piece is a fantastic, large miniature / small cabinet sized specimen featuring soft blue colored Plumbogummite covering / replacing greenish-yellow, prismatic, hexagonal "hoppered"/skeletal Pyromorphite crystals free of matrix. The largest crystal measures 3.5 cm long, which is quite large for Pyromorphite, just imagine if there was no pseudomorphing taking place. The piece is largely in excellent condition, though some contacted areas can be seen on the lower portion, so it's not 100% pristine. A fine quality, showy, three-dimensional specimen that would make a great addition to any secondary ore collection or a suite of Chinse minerals. Please note, the Plumbogummite specimens that have been on the market for the last few years (often associated with or pseudomorphing after Pyromorphite) have been labeled as coming from the Daoping Mine, but these particular pieces are from Yangshuo. Valued at $2,50
