Plumbogummite (fine color and quality)

Plumbogummite is an uncommon lead aluminum phosphate mineral, found typically as a secondary species in lead ore deposits. While it has been known for 200+ years, it truly was not considered a collectible display species, and was usually only seen as an additional mineral on most specimens. Then the superb pieces from the Yangshuo Mine in China hit the market, and completely redefined Plumbogummite as a species. These soon-to-be classic specimens do not get enough credit for their excellent color and quality. The top pieces from this mine are arguably the best examples of the species ever found. This cabinet sized specimen is a wonderful piece of this superb quality material featuring dozens of translucent spherical / botryoidal Plumbogummite "balls" and "fingers" covering the entire display side of the underlying matrix. The largest Plumbogummite measures 4 mm. The color with a strong blue tone, with a slight silvery overtone in areas. Minor roughness is present, but the piece is still a very good example of this stellar material. If you look around the edges, you can see a tiny bit of vivid yellow Pyromorphite underneath the Plumbogummite. Pieces like this are becoming very hard to find on the market now, as nothing has come out of this locality for a few years. Valued $950.
