Plumbogummite (excellent color and quality)

The soon-to-be classic Plumbogummite specimens from Yangshuo do not get enough credit for their excellent color and quality. The top pieces from this mine are arguably the best examples of the species ever found. This large miniature / small cabinet specimen is a wonderful piece of this superb quality material featuring spherical / botryoidal Plumbogummite "balls" covering the entire display side of the underlying matrix. If you backlight the piece. you can see the vivid blue color come through. The piece is contacted in several spots, so it's not pristine, but pieces with color like this are becoming very hard to find on the market now, as nothing has come out of this locality for a few years. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#947 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
