Plumbogummite (excellent color and quality)

This is a wonderful and showy piece of this high quality material. Plumbogummite has been known since the early 1800s (it was named a species in 1819), but was not typically considered a collectible display species until the superb pieces from the Yangshuo Mine hit the market. Most examples of the species prior to those from Yangshuo were either micros or secondary druses, and didn't amount to much in terms of displayability. These soon-to-be classic specimens do not get enough credit for their excellent color and quality. The top pieces from this mine are arguably the best examples of the species ever found. This small cabinet sized specimen is a wonderful piece of this superb quality material featuring dozens of translucent spherical / botryoidal Plumbogummite "balls" covering a good percentage of the underlying matrix. If you backlight the piece. you can see the vivid blue color come through. The largest "ball" measures about 4 mm across. Very little damage and it's a rather three-dimensional piece, with more character than a good portion of pieces we've seen from the locale.
